Mirae Asset Mutual Fund will enter the specialised investment fund (SIF) space with the launch of its Platinum Hybrid Long-Short Fund on May 20. The scheme, to be managed by Gaurik Shah, will deploy a mix of strategies including collar trades, special situations, arbitrage, and debt to deliver hybrid fund-like returns with stronger downside protection. Under a collar strategy, the fund holds equities while using options to cap downside risk and generate additional income through the sale of call options.
